Green Lantern Shines in a Summer of Blockbusters
Ryan Reynolds stars in Green Lantern, the June 2011 big-budget space opera. Though Green Lantern is not as popular as other superhero icons Batman and Superman, he still headlines one of the best-selling comics books in the market and both adults and kids alike can be spotted wearing t-shirts featuring Green Lantern. The general public will be introduced to the Green Lantern mythos in a big way this summer.
The intergalactic team known as the Green Lantern Corps were assembled by the Guardians of the Universe from the planet Oa. The many alien races in the universe are separated by sectors, each assigned a Green Lantern to protect it. Individual Lanterns are selected based on their ability to overcome fear. Power rings are given to each Green Lantern, giving them the ability to conjure objects using their willpower. Along with the Superhero himself it, the power ring is strongly featured on Green Lantern shirts. It is regarded as a dangerous, yet powerful weapon.
Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds) becomes the first Green Lantern from the planet Earth when the Corps' finest warrior, Abin Sur, is critically injured by a powerful fear-entity called Parallax. Abin Sur's power ring finds the Earthman pilot Hal Jordan, and chooses him to replace its former bearer.
Hal Jordan flies to Oa and joins the fight against Parallax, along with the rest of the Green Lantern Corps. One of the Corps' best, the Korugarian Sinestro, partners with Jordan in order to avenge his fallen comrade, Abin Sur. They will be joined by Corps sergeant Kilowog from Bolovax Vik, and the scientist Tomar-Re from Xudar.
The different planets and aliens will be rendered in CGI and will be available in 3D. To coincide with the release of this blockbuster there are a huge number of new t shirts with Green Lantern on them to pick from.
